I’ve been a fan of SST (Stupid Simple Tools) ever since I tried their tap-socket set a few years ago—it’s such basic brilliance that it stuck with me. So when the time came to assemble a bunch of flat-pack structures (and believe me, I’m talking a LOT of zip-ties), I didn’t hesitate to give their zip-tie gun a shot.
Let me tell you—this tool literally saved my hand and my mind. What should’ve been a tedious, hand-numbing chore turned into something quick and almost enjoyable. Pulling the trigger is effortless, and it made it easy to cinch and snip hundreds—or in my case thousands—of zip-ties without that sore thumb fatigue I always dread.
Despite all that use, the tool held up like a champ. I haven’t needed to fix anything, and it still feels sturdy and reliable. Bonus point: the clean cuts leave a near-perfect finish every time, which is always satisfying.
If you’ve ever wrestled with zip-ties during big jobs, this gun gives you your sanity back. It’s that rare combination of simple design that just does its job—and does it well.
I have an old metal one that works OK, the price on this one deterred me, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it until eventually I bought it so I could stop thinking about it. It works surprisingly well and has the ability to be dialed in with much more finesse than my previous one. It’s fun to use and prevents the clip from flying all over the place after it’s cut.
